The property is one of two contemporary townhouses set in a street with mostly red brick Victorian buildings. The salient design principle was to make the building sustainable and designed to good standards. It included single storey front and rear extensions, new first floor balcony treatment and addition of heating system including solar panels with a heat pump. The existing wired glass balustrade panels of the 1st floor balcony were replaced with toughened glass panels. Reduction of CO2 emission achieved and acceptability to conservation environment maintained.
